CEB was started in 2012. We worked to give the community the chance to make an interest earning local investment, in part to take advantage of the Feed in Tariffs. As of 2025, we have raised over £135K in share offers and £20K in grants which installed 145 kWp of solar PV and have generated 883,000 kWh of clean energy.
That's enough to power and heat 327 homes for a year!!

Our aims are deeply rooted in reducing carbon emissions. Yet our organisation is evolving, the goal has always been to address local carbon emissions and inequalities. Initially we achieved this by raising money to invest in renewable energy systems on community buildings through solar, but have now evolved into retrofit support as well, from a solar only to an energy more broadly
We are maintaining our current sites and using our experience to help third sector sites with their solar ambitions.

If you have a community or commercial building that would like to offer up for community solar be sure to let us know. If we can't do the project with you we will know a group that can.
We have helped the city's adoption of Solar PV. We are proud of this history and work with partners to maintain and promote PV as an energy source.
Evening events hosted in community buildings, the format of a 3 hour workshop with a break for the provided dinner.
